Committed to artistic excellence and programming, Ballet Tennessee has presented a blend of classical and contemporary ballets by the artistic directors and guest choreographers since 1987. Performances, outreach, education, and professional training are hallmarks of the company. The result is a unique regional ballet company made up of both professional and dedicated professional-track students.
The board of directors is made up of community and business leaders who hold an annual fundraiser in support of the company's programs. The constant work by its board, artistic directors and staff has helped depolarize Chattanooga's diverse communities.
The company has brought distinction to Chattanooga in professionally produced full length and classic ballets of Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Swan Lake,The Millennium Nutcracker, Dracula, Les Sylphides, Paquita, and Christmas Carol. In addition to these full length ballets the company regularly performs original classical and contemporary works by resident and guest choreographers. Performances take place annually at Memorial Auditorium, Tivoli Theater, Roland Hayes Concert Hall at UTC Fine Arts Center and other community venues.
