Ballet Tennessee, under the direction of Anna Baker-VanCura, will ring in the holidays with "The Nutcracker" on Saturday, December 16 (2:00 & 7:30 pm) and Sunday, December 17 (2:00 pm) at UTC Fine Arts Center. This classic full length production is brought to life with brilliant sets, costumes, and original choreography by Barry VanCura.
The performances will highlight the Ballet Tennessee Company, students of VanCura Ballet Conservatory, and current Talent Identification Program (TIP) Scholars. The ballerina roles will be danced by Ballet Tennessee Professional Dancers Hannah Locke, as the Sugar Plum Fairy, and Emma Pannkuk, as the Snow Queen. Ballet Tennessee Company Dancers Chyna Clark (CCA) and Abigail Herron (Walker Valley High) will dance the lead roles of Arabian and Rose Fairy. The role of Clara will be danced by Conservatory students Lovest Hogstrom (Berean Academy) and Addison McMullin (CCA). Conservatory students Ta'Sean Honeysucker (Barger Academy, TIP Scholar) and Eric Sumner (Soddy Daisy Elementary) will dance the role of the Nutcracker Prince. Guest Performer Andrew Bewley will perform the role of Herr Drosslmeyer.
In celebration of Ballet Tennessee's 20 year collaboration with the city of Chattanooga for the Dance Alive Program, Guest Artist Fredrick Davis returns to Chattanooga to dance the roles of Snow Cavalier and Sugar Plum Cavalier. Mr. Davis is a Ballet Tennessee and Dance Alive alumnus, and a former TIP Scholar. He has danced professionally with the Roxey Ballet and Dance Theatre of Harlem, and starred in WTCI's Emmy award winning documentary "From the Streets to the Stage: the Journey of Fredrick Davis."
Ballet Tennessee Dance Alive alumnus & former TIP Scholar, LeRonnie Ervin joins the cast as Lead Arabian. Mr. Ervin is currently a full scholarship student at Alabama School of Fine Arts.
