Dance Alive was established in 1997. A 22-year collaboration with Chattanooga Youth and Family Devolopment, the program is designed to introduce youth to the joy of dance. The Dance Alive/Elite and Talent Identification Program promote life tools to prepare young people for adulthood by providing opportunities to learn critical and creative thinking skills, commitment, responsibility, leadership skills, and a passion to excel.

Dance Alive/Elite is a free two-week summer dance experience for children from the Greater Chattanooga area ages 8-12. The program culminates in a FREE public performance. Children selected from this introductory program can receive a Talent Identification Program scholarship that offers year-long dance study by providing elementary through professional level training in classical ballet, modern, and jazz. From 1997-2019, 436 scholarships have been awarded.

While the organization does not expect all participants to pursue dance as a career, each TIP scholar exits the program as a self-disciplined and self-motivated individual. Alumni of these programs have received full tuition scholarships to The Ailey School Summer Intensive, the New York Joffrey School, North Carolina Dance Theater and American Ballet Theater Summer Programs, Boston Ballet's Summer Intensive, and more.
